Episode 453: Explanation of Catholic Morals - 73: The Massacre of the Innocents

From the audiobook Explanation of Catholic Morals

73: The Massacre of the Innocents

Chapter 73 unequivocally condemns abortion (referred to as "The Massacre of the Innocents") as the most heartless, cowardly, and brutal form of murder, likening it to a "modern Moloch" that denies the unborn child's inalienable right to life from conception. The text asserts that prenatal life is fully human and possesses an immortal soul, protected by God's commandment "Thou shalt not kill." It argues that neither the circumstances of conception, potential poverty, nor even the risk to the mother's life justify taking an innocent life. Furthermore, it emphasizes that even in doubt, one must not act, and that all who participate in or enable abortion—whether actively or through neglect—bear the stain of murder before God, whose justice will ultimately prevail.
